Costco: Kirkland brand goes green

Everyone that knows me, knows I love Costco. For the mere reason that it saves our family a lot of money. Not only can I buy a case of organic soy milk for a reasonable price but now they have environmentally friendly dish soap and laundry detergent under their Kirkland brand name. No longer do you have to shell out a lot of money to do the right thing environmentally. On the Costco website they state that the products were made from the ground up, they choose to make a product that is green and also to make sure they used the most efficient manufacturing and distribution process.

And also as an added bonus their Kirkland brand coffee is not only roasted by Starbucks but it's also fair trade! Rock on Costco for raising the bar!

You know what? I am very excited about this! We don't have a dishwasher and go through tons of dish soap, which I hike all the way over to Trader Joe's to buy. They also have the enviro. stuff, but we probably go through one bottle a week. Costco wins my business yet again! Good post!

Not to be snarky, but you have to consider the whole picture here. Yes, certified fair trade products do good things for some people. But if you're genuinely interested in global health, you have to consider the carbon footprint. Is it really more responsible overall to buy fair trade products, when importing them from their point of origin probably consumes exponentially more fossil fuel than buying something produced closer to home, albeit not a fair trade product? Hmmm...

Good point, anon. And when they start growing coffee in my city, I will buy the local brand.
OK?
