I call it Zen Knitting. The ladies in my knitting group smile to each other as I pull out my latest project of zen knitting as they attempt to tackle hard patterns and balls of beautiful delicate yarn. I just like to
cast on and see what happens. I make a lot of scarves and blankets but recently I made this awesome shrug. It was so simple! If you can knit a scarf you can knit a shrug. I didn't use a pattern, I cast on enough stitches that would fit around my upper arm and then did row after row of knit and purl until it was the desired length. I then stitched up the arms from the end to where my arm pit hit, this took a few times of trying it on and taking it off till I hit the perfect part...some people measure with a measuring tape...I find that the try on-take off approach works for me. :)
I absolutely love it!!! I miss those days of sitting and knitting for hours on end with you.

ReplyDeleteNow Gretchen I do love crafts even though I don't do much of it any more with the carpel tunnel problem I have. I started out with resin casting and made some of the prettiest coaster sets one year with embedded shells. Then I got into building miniature log cabins with furniture, dishes, even food made from whatever I had in my shop. Once I even made one into a church with pews, speaker stand with a miniature bible, offering plate with money and stained glass windows and a name over the door "Langley's Chapel". I gave it to my mother and since she died I have it back now. I do miss those days.
